History

1996
Sikelia Service was established in Acireale (Italy) with the aim to be an outsourcing provider for the fintech sector. It immediately became the exclusive NCR’s reseller for the South of Italy, affirming itself in the banking market as a sales leader for ATM and POS devices.

1997
It launched the offer of services under outsourcing for document management of the banking sector – it first client was the former Banca Popolare Santa Venera, now Credito Siciliano. It opened its representative offices in Milan and Rome (Italy).

1997 – 1999
It expanded its presence on the market by providing document management service under outsourcing to all Sicilian banks – among those: Banco di Sicilia, Banca di Credito Popolare di Siracusa and Banca Agricola Etnea.

1999
Sikelia Service began a collaboration with CA – Computer Associates for which it became the  System & Network Operator Center (SNOC) for the South of Italy. The company’s specific competencies where in monetics and remote IT complex networks management.
It created an IP network for bank’s branches and remote offices on a CISCO router and Unix server, for Banca di Credito Popolare di Siracusa – the first bank in Italy to adopt this model based on open technology.

2002
It recorded the first activities in document archiving and conservation, following the realisation of an archiving plant in Ragusa (Italy). The first client was Banca Agricola Popolare di Ragusa.

2006
In this year Sikelia Service ended its long collaboration with NCR, and it initiated its activity as independent software developer and provider. It launched Newton AMS – ATM Monitoring System, a multivendor and multi-protocol software for the monitoring and management of ATM and self-service machines.  Amongst its first clients: Banco di Sicilia, Capitalia, Bassilichi for Monte dei Paschi di Siena and Bassilichi for BNL.

2009
Sikelia Service joined ATMIA – ATM Industry Association.

2009 – 2010
The company implemented its infrastructures – two archiving plants were built in Riposto and Termini Imerese (Italy) – and its services’ offer with the introduction of digital archiving.

2010
Following the realisation of a photovoltaic plant in the company’s premises in Termini Imerese (Italy), Sikelia Service became a certified producer and reseller of electrical energy from renewable sources.

2011
It released WII – Web Image Interface – a proprietary software platform for document management and archiving – on the market. It signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Ark Technologies, an African company, which became a reseller and system integrator for the software solutions of Sikelia Service in Nigeria. Furthermore, the company obtained the Microsoft Platform Ready (MPR) certification.

2012
This year was characterised by the arrival on the market of Newton CTM – Cash & Transaction Management, an application for the cash management of ATm networks and automatic systems for cash counting/deposit.

2014
Sikelia Service presented Stash: a platform for the cash management of banks, branches, treasurer’s offices and Cash In Transit (CIT) companies. Its first client was Consorzio Servizi Bancari (CSE).

2015
It launched Newton RDP – Retail Dashboard Portal, the newest addition to the Newton family of application. Newton RDP is a hyper-desk that allows the supervision in real time of the operative and functional performances of an ATM network, and to generate detailed reports.
It developed and launched on the market Icaro, a software platform for the supervision of system for the production of electrical energy from solar sources. Sikelia Service together with the University of Palermo (Italy) brought to completion the research project on the proprietary forecasting algorithm for the company’s software solution Stash.

2016
A new software platform for digital document management and informatisation of the processes related to document management for archiving purposes, was released on the market. Sikelia Service received the certification of ‘Conservatore Digitale’ by AgID (Agency for Digital Italy).
